Inconel Round Bars — Supplier & Exporter in India

Inconel round bar is a strong, cylindrical metal rod made from Inconel — an alloy specially composed of nickel, chromium, and alloying elements including iron (Fe), molybdenum (Mo), and niobium (Nb). These alloys deliver exceptional resistance to heat, corrosion, and oxidation — retaining mechanical integrity even in the most demanding service conditions.

Applications of Inconel Round Bars

Inconel round bars are specified for applications demanding exceptional strength, stability, and corrosion resistance under extreme heat and pressure.

  • Aerospace & Aviation: Used for highly stressed components in jet engines, gas turbines, and rocket motors — including shafts, bolts, and turbine blades. Inconel 718 (AMS 5662/5663) is the aerospace standard for rotating components.
  • Oil & Gas (Downhole Tools): Critical for downhole drilling components and wellhead parts that must resist stress-corrosion cracking from sour gas (H₂S) and chloride ions at high temperatures. Supplied to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 where specified.
  • Chemical Processing: Used in equipment and piping requiring resistance to aggressive media — hot concentrated acids, alkalis, and chlorides. Inconel 625 is preferred for its superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
  • Nuclear Reactors: Specified for control rod drive mechanisms, core components, and pressure vessel parts due to resistance to corrosion and irradiation damage in pressurised water reactor (PWR) environments.
  • Marine & Seawater Environments: Utilised for propeller shafts, pump shafts, and valves requiring excellent resistance to saltwater pitting and crevice corrosion. Inconel 625 is the primary alloy for subsea and offshore applications.
  • High-Temperature Fixtures: Fabricated into furnace components, radiant tubes, and heat-treating baskets that must maintain strength and resist oxidation above 1,000°C.
  • Power Generation: Inconel round bars are used for turbine rotor shafts, heat exchanger tubing supports, and boiler fasteners in coal, gas, and nuclear power plants where high creep strength above 700°C is essential.

Machining & Fabrication Notes

Machinability

Inconel alloys work-harden rapidly under cutting loads. Use sharp carbide or ceramic tooling, slow feeds, and adequate coolant. High-pressure coolant is recommended for deep drilling operations in Inconel 718.

Weldability

Inconel alloys are weldable by GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and SMAW processes. Recommended filler metals: ENiCrMo-3 (for grade 625), ERNiCrMo-3 (for MIG/TIG on 625), ENiCrFe-3 (for grades 600 and 718). Match filler to base alloy for optimum corrosion resistance.

Post-Weld Treatment

Solution annealing at 980 °C (Inconel 625) or 954 °C (Inconel 600) is recommended after welding to relieve residual stress and restore corrosion resistance. Inconel 718 welds are precipitation hardened at 718 °C following solution anneal.

Inconel Round Bars Price List

Inconel round bar prices are highly variable due to fluctuating nickel markets, alloy surcharges, grade, size, and order quantity. The table below provides estimated price ranges for the Indian market.

Frequently Asked Questions — Inconel Round Bars

How does Solitaire Overseas ensure the quality of Inconel round bars?
Every batch is verified through independent third-party certification and undergoes detailed chemical composition analysis using optical emission spectrometry (OES). Mechanical tests — tensile, yield, hardness, and elongation — are performed per ASTM/ASME standards. Non-destructive examination (ultrasonic or dye-penetrant testing) is applied for critical orders. Full material test certificates (MTCs) with heat number traceability are supplied with every shipment.
What ASTM standards cover Inconel round bars?
Inconel 600 and 601 bars conform to ASTM B166 (UNS N06600 / N06601). Inconel 625 bars conform to ASTM B446 (UNS N06625). Inconel 718 bars conform to ASTM B637 (UNS N07718). Incoloy 800 bars are covered by ASTM B408 (UNS N08800) and Incoloy 825 bars by ASTM B425 (UNS N08825). AMS 5662 and AMS 5663 are available for aerospace-grade Inconel 718.
What is the maximum diameter available for Inconel round bars?
We supply Inconel round bars in diameters from 3 mm up to 800 mm. Diameters above 250 mm are typically supplied as forged and turned bars with bespoke lead times.
What is the difference between Inconel 625 and Inconel 718 round bars?
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) is a solid-solution-strengthened alloy excelling in aqueous corrosion resistance — preferred for marine, subsea, and chemical processing applications. Inconel 718 (UNS N07718) is a precipitation-hardened alloy with higher tensile strength (965 MPa min.) at temperatures up to 704 °C — the standard choice for aerospace rotating parts and high-pressure oil and gas fasteners.
What is the difference between Inconel and Incoloy round bars?
Inconel alloys (600, 601, 625, 718) are predominantly nickel-chromium based with nickel content typically above 50 %. Incoloy alloys (800, 825) contain nickel in the range 30–46 %, balanced with iron and chromium, making them cost-effective for moderate high-temperature and corrosion-resistant applications. Both families are nickel superalloys but optimised for different temperature and corrosion service conditions.
Can you supply material with EN 10204 3.2 test certificates?
Yes. We supply material with EN 10204 3.2 (third-party witnessed) test certificates from approved inspection agencies including Bureau Veritas, SGS, Intertek, and TÜV. NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliance documentation is also available on request.
What surface finishes are available for Inconel round bars?
Available finishes include Hot Rolled (HR), Cold Drawn (CD), Bright Annealed, Centreless Ground (CG), Peeled and Turned (P&T), and Black Forged. Cold drawn and centreless ground bars offer the tightest dimensional tolerances and are specified for precision machined components.
What is the minimum order quantity for Inconel round bars?
We accommodate both small and large orders. For commonly stocked grades (600, 625, 718) and standard sizes, ex-stock supply is available for immediate dispatch. For non-standard grades or custom dimensions, a minimum order may apply. Please contact our sales team for a quick quote.
Can Inconel round bars be supplied in custom cut lengths?
Yes. Standard lengths are 0.5–6.0 m, but we supply custom cut lengths, fixed lengths, and random lengths to project requirements. All cut pieces are supplied with material identification markings and full heat number traceability.
