Solitaire Overseas supplies and exports Inconel 601 round bar, Inconel 601 rod, and alloy 601 bar conforming to ASTM B166 / ASME SB166 (UNS N06601, Werkstoff Nr. 2.4851). Alloy 601 round bar stock is available in diameters from 3 mm to 800 mm in round, square, hex, flat, and hollow forms with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates as standard.
Since 2001, Solitaire Overseas has been supplying nickel alloy products, such as Inconel 601 round bar, to customers in 45+ countries with ISO 9001:2015 certification and EN 10204 3.1 mill test certification on all orders.
Inconel Alloy 601 round bars are common in chemical processing, heat treatment equipment, and aerospace parts because of the superior capability against high-temperature oxidation and corrosion. Inconel 601 square bars and flat bars have good thermal and electrical conductivity as well as stable mechanical properties at higher temperatures.
Inconel 601 threaded bars are suitable for service above 600°F (315°C) where their low carbon chemistry avoids sensitisation and the aluminium addition ensures stable oxidation resistance. Inconel UNS N06601 hollow bars provide a wide operating temperature range along with good ductility and strength.
Alloy 601 bars and rods are highly resistant to oxidising, carburisation and nitriding conditions. This alloy is also provided with good performance in oxidising and reducing atmosphere to a small degree.
Inconel 601 rods are widely specified for heat treatment fixtures, furnace components, and chemical processing equipment where both oxidation resistance and dimensional stability under load are required simultaneously.
Alloy 601 round bar is a nickel-chromium alloy with the addition of aluminium, which creates a protective oxide coating, increasing resistance to thermal cycling. These bars are characterized by high strength, good fabrication characteristics, and good weldability.
Our Inconel 601 round bar products are widely used in extreme environments such as high temperature and high pressure applications. Inconel 601 hex bars offer good forming and welding characteristics, and are available in customised sizes as per customer requirements.
Inconel 601 square bars provide high tensile strength, good corrosion resistance, and excellent fabrication properties. The alloy’s composition ensures resistance to pitting and oxidation, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.

The rate of cooling following hot working is not critical with respect to thermal cracking. To avoid sensitization, the alloy should be cooled rapidly through the 1000–1400°F (540–760°C) temperature range. Inconel alloy 601 is cold formed using conventional methods. The alloy’s work-hardening rate is slightly higher than that of Inconel 600 and Incoloy 800.
The temperature range for hot forming Inconel alloy 601 is 1600–2250°F (870–1230°C). Heavy working operations should be performed between 1900–2250°F (1040–1230°C). The alloy shows reduced ductility between 1200–1600°F (650–870°C) and should not be worked in this range.
Standard machining operations can be performed on Alloy 601. For best results, the alloy should be in solution-treated condition.
Inconel alloy 601 offers good weldability and can be joined using conventional welding processes such as GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW. Welding consumables should be selected based on service conditions.
Recommended filler metals: ERNiCrFe-11 (GTAW/GMAW) or ENiCrFe-11 (SMAW) for matching chemistry. Post-weld annealing at 1100–1150 °C is recommended for maximum corrosion resistance.
The alloy must be clean before heat treatment. Contaminants such as oil, grease, or paint should be removed prior to heating. Inconel 601 is not strengthened by heat treatment but can achieve different strength levels through cold working and annealing.
