The raw material is obtained from European, Japanese and American certified mills. Our Incoloy 825 bars are supplied to refineries, chemical plants, and offshore operators across 40+ countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the UK.

Solitaire Overseas manufactures and exports Incoloy 825 Round Bars by UNS N08825, DIN 2.4858 in compliance with ASTM B425 / ASME SB425. Alloy 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with additions of molybdenum, copper and titanium, specifically designed for exceptional corrosion resistance in both oxidising and reducing acidic environments. It was originally developed to provide superior resistance to sulphuric acid corrosion, and subsequently proved outstanding in phosphoric acid, wet-process acid, seawater, and environments containing chlorides and sulphur compounds. Unlike Incoloy 800, Alloy 825 is not a high-temperature structural material — its value lies in its broad corrosion resistance across diverse aqueous environments.

Corrosion Resistance of Incoloy 825 Round Bar

Incoloy 825 offers a uniquely broad corrosion resistance profile that covers both oxidising and reducing acidic environments — a combination rarely found in a single alloy:

  • Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄): Excellent resistance across all concentrations, particularly at elevated temperature.
  • Phosphoric Acid (H₃PO₄): Outstanding resistance including wet-process phosphoric acid containing fluoride impurities.
  • Nitric Acid (HNO₃): Good resistance in dilute concentrations due to high Cr content.
  • Organic Acids: Good resistance to acetic, formic and lactic acids.
  • Seawater & Chloride Brines: Mo + Cu combination prevents pitting and crevice corrosion; CPT ~50 °C.
  • Hydrogen Sulphide (H₂S): NACE MR0175 compliant; suitable for sour gas environments.
  • Oxidising & Reducing Atmospheres: Stable up to ~600 °C in continuous service.

Industries and Applications for Alloy 825 Round Bar

Incoloy 825 round bar is machined into shafts, fasteners, valve bodies, pump components, and heat exchanger tube sheets across these key sectors:

  • Chemical Processing: Reactor internals, agitator shafts, pump shafts for sulfuric and phosphoric acid service.
  • Oil & Gas (Sour Service): Downhole components, wellhead parts, offshore platform fasteners — NACE MR0175 compliant material available.
  • Marine & Offshore: Seawater-cooled heat exchanger components, propeller shafts, marine exhaust system flanges.
  • Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing: Fuel element dissolvers, radioactive waste handling equipment, evaporator and waste storage hardware.
  • Seawater Desalination: Pump shafts and impellers in RO and MSF plants.
  • Pollution Control: Scrubber shafts, flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) system components.
  • Pharmaceutical & Food Processing: Vessels and agitator shafts in high-purity acid wash environments.
  • Pickling Lines: Tank internals, dip basket frames in HF and HNO₃ pickling lines.

Welding and Machining Guidelines for Incoloy 825 Bar

Incoloy 825 round bar welds readily by all conventional processes. Recommended filler materials: Inconel Filler Metal 625 (GTAW/GMAW) and Inconel Welding Electrode 112 (SMAW). For maximum corrosion resistance post-weld, use Inco-Weld 686CPT. Stabilizing anneal at 940 °C (1724 °F) after welding restores intergranular corrosion resistance. Machining is best performed in annealed condition — use sharp carbide tooling with adequate coolant to manage work-hardening.

Incoloy 825 vs Incoloy 800 Round Bar

Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800) is optimised for high-temperature oxidation resistance (up to 1100 °C) in heat treatment furnaces and steam applications. Incoloy 825 (UNS N08825) is designed for aqueous corrosion resistance — sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, sour gas environments — at process temperatures up to ~538 °C. For acid service: choose 825. For furnace/steam service: choose 800.

Frequently Asked Questions — Incoloy 825 Round Bar

What is the ASTM standard for Incoloy 825 round bars?
Incoloy 825 round bars are produced to ASTM B425 / ASME SB425 (UNS N08825). The German equivalent is Werkstoff Nr. 2.4858.
Is Incoloy 825 suitable for sulphuric acid service?
Yes. Alloy 825 is one of the most corrosion-resistant alloys for sulphuric acid service. Its combination of nickel, chromium, molybdenum and copper gives it excellent resistance across all H&sub2;SO&sub4; concentrations including hot concentrated acid — outperforming 316L and duplex stainless steels significantly.
What is the difference between Incoloy 800 and Incoloy 825?
Incoloy 800 (ASTM B408) is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy designed for elevated-temperature structural applications (up to 900–1000 °C). Incoloy 825 (ASTM B425) contains additional molybdenum, copper and titanium and is designed specifically for aqueous corrosion resistance — not high-temperature structural service. Their applications overlap only where both moderate temperature and severe acid corrosion are present.
Is Incoloy 825 NACE MR0175 compliant?
Yes. Incoloy 825 is listed in NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for use in sour gas (H&sub2;S-containing) environments. NACE compliance documentation is available on request.
What is the difference between Incoloy 825 and Inconel 625 round bar?
Incoloy 825 (UNS N08825) is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy with ~38–46 % Ni, designed for aqueous corrosion resistance in acid environments at moderate temperatures. Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) is a high-nickel superalloy (~58 % Ni) with higher strength and rated for elevated temperatures up to 980 °C. For acid pickling, FGD systems, and seawater applications at standard process temperatures, Incoloy 825 is the cost-effective choice. For jet engine components or high-temperature chemical reactors, Inconel 625 is the correct selection.
What is the price of Incoloy 825 round bar per kg?
Incoloy 825 round bar price depends on diameter, length, surface condition, and order quantity. Indicative range: USD 18–36/kg for standard diameters (10–100 mm) in annealed condition, subject to LME nickel pricing. Contact Solitaire Overseas for a firm quote with current price list and MTC.
