ASTM A213 T22 Alloy Steel Tube is a seamless ferritic and austenitic alloy steel grade primarily covered under the SA 213 T22 Tube specification. Known as a chrome moly tube, the SA213 T22 material composition includes chromium, molybdenum, carbon, sulfur, silicon, and potassium, which provide excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance. Molybdenum is very crucial because it increases elastic limit, wear resistance, impact toughness, hardenability, and high-temperature creep strength.
The ASTM A213 T22 Seamless Tube offers superior mechanical properties, including a minimum tensile strength of 414 MPa, minimum yield strength of 207 MPa, good hardness (maximum 85 Rockwell), and elongation capability up to 30%.
Alloy Steel T22 Tubes are designed for high-temperature service, making them ideal for bending, flanging (vanstoning), forming operations, and fusion welding. They are widely used in power generation, petrochemical plants, oil and gas refineries, chemical industries, as T22 Boiler Tube components, heaters, and for water transportation.
Historically, the SA 199 T22 and SA 200 T22 specifications were withdrawn and replaced by the current SA 213 T22 standard. These tubes are available in hot-rolled condition up to 22.5 meters and cold-drawn with close tolerances up to 25 meters.
