Incoloy 800H (UNS N08810 / DIN W.Nr. 1.4958) is a nickel–iron–chromium alloy engineered for superior performance at elevated temperatures. It contains a controlled carbon content (0.05–0.10%) that promotes a coarser grain structure (ASTM No. 5 or coarser) after high-temperature solution annealing at approximately 2100°F (1150°C). This optimized microstructure gives Incoloy 800H Pipes significantly improved creep and stress-rupture resistance in the 1100°F–1800°F (593°C–980°C) service range.

Incoloy 800HT (UNS N08811 / DIN W.Nr. 1.4959) further refines the chemistry by restricting the combined aluminum and titanium content to 0.85–1.20% and the carbon range to 0.06–0.10%. When solution-annealed at a minimum of 2100°F (1149°C), this deliberate chemistry control produces the highest creep-rupture strength within the 800 family making Incoloy 800HT Pipes and Inconel 800HT Pipes the preferred choice for demanding elevated-temperature structural applications above 700°C.

Key Distinction: Alloys 800, 800H, and 800HT share the same base nickel, chromium, and iron content. The differences lie in carbon, aluminum, and titanium control plus heat treatment, which translate directly into different high-temperature mechanical performance levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

800HT is a refinement of 800H. Both share the same base Ni-Cr-Fe chemistry, but 800HT has a tighter carbon range (0.06–0.10% vs. 0.05–0.10%) and a restricted combined Al+Ti content of 0.85–1.20% (vs. 0.30–1.20% for 800H). This, combined with a mandatory high-temperature anneal at ≥2100°F, gives 800HT the highest creep-rupture strength of the 800 family.

The primary standard is ASTM B407 / ASME SB407 for seamless pipes and ASTM B514 / ASME SB514 for welded pipes. Other applicable standards include ASTM B163, B515, B775, B829, and B751. ASME Section VIII and Section III code cases also cover 800H/800HT for pressure vessel and nuclear applications.

Incoloy 800 is typically used up to 1100°F (593°C). Alloys 800H and 800HT are specifically designed for service above 1100°F, with ASME Section VIII permitting construction up to 1500°F (816°C) and Code Case 1983 allowing up to 1800°F (982°C).

Yes. All our pipes are supplied with EN 10204 / 3.1B Mill Test Certificates covering chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment details, and applicable test results. PMI, radiography, and NACE compliance reports are available on request.

AWS A5.14 ERNiCr-3 filler wire is recommended for GTAW/GMAW processes, while ENiCrFe-3 electrodes are suitable for SMAW. Post-weld annealing at a minimum of 2100°F (1149°C) is required to restore full creep and rupture properties in the heat-affected zone.
