Inconel 800 Seamless Pipe (UNS N08800 / W.Nr. 1.4876) is a nickel–iron chromium alloy pipe made without a welded seam, and so has a uniform microstructure, high mechanical strength, and high pressure carrying capacity. It is usually a balanced alloy of 3035 percent nickel and 1923 percent chromium with equal amounts of iron giving it a great resistance against oxidation and carburization as well as high-temperature corrosion.

Our Inconel 800 Welded Pipe is manufactured under the high quality of the ERW and EFW welding process so that it becomes more dimensional, accurate and structurally sound, and is economical, particularly when it comes to large diameter. Alloy 800 Seamless Pipe Manufacturing Process

The manufacturing process of Alloy 800 Seamless Pipe begins by heating a solid cylindrical billet. The billet is pierced and elongated over a mandrel to form a hollow shell. Cold drawing or cold rolling is then used to achieve precise dimensions, required wall thickness, and improved surface finish. This controlled process results in a high-strength, defect-free Inconel 800 Seamless Pipe suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
In contrast, Inconel 800 Welded Pipes are formed from rolled plates or strips and joined using ERW or EFW welding techniques. Post-weld heat treatment and non-destructive testing ensure structural integrity and long-term performance.

High-Temperature Strength:
Inconel 800 Pipe boasts off-the-shelf of great mechanical strength and structural integrity even under the extended exposure to the high temperatures and therefore is suitable in the superheater and reheater tubes in power plants.
Oxidation and Carburization Resistance:
The high nickel and chromium content develops a protective oxide layer which does not oxidize and does not absorb carbon at a high temperature. This renders Alloy 800 Seamless Pipe to be applicant in radiant tubes and furnace applications.
Stable Austenitic Structure:
In austenitic microstructure, the same does not have embrittling properties and thus it is stable even at prolonged thermal exposure, providing long term reliability.

What is the difference between Inconel 800 Seamless Pipe and Inconel 800 Welded Pipe?

In industrial piping applications, both Inconel 800 Seamless Pipes and Inconel 800 Welded Pipes are selected for their strength and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures.
Manufacturing Process
The primary difference lies in their manufacturing method.
Seamless Inconel 800 Pipe is produced by heating a solid billet and piercing it to form a hollow tube. The pipe is elongated and sized through hot rolling or cold drawing. Because it is manufactured without a weld seam, the structure remains continuous and homogeneous, resulting in superior pressure-handling capability and structural uniformity.
In contrast, Inconel 800 Welded Pipe is manufactured by rolling a flat strip or plate of alloy 800 into a cylindrical shape and welding the longitudinal seam using TIG, ERW, or EFW techniques. Post-weld heat treatment and non-destructive testing enhance weld integrity and mechanical performance.
