Where welding is impractical or undesirable, carbon steel threaded flanges provide a straightforward mechanical connection for compatible threaded pipe. This flange is equipped with internal tapered threads that are compatible with external pipe threads, making the need for welding unnecessary. ASTM A105 carbon steel is the primary metal for these flanges, and there are some classes available, i.e., Class 150 and Class 300 per ASME B16.5. The installation of these flanges without welding can be helpful, especially when hot work is not allowed, and the threaded design allows for removing the connection easily. These flanges are generally suited to lower-pressure services where threaded joints are permitted by the applicable piping specification. Solitaire Overseas manufactures and supplies carbon steel threaded flanges with mill test certification, with hydrostatic testing and third-party inspection available when required.

NPT is standard. BSPT and other thread standards can be supplied on request. Always match the flange thread to the mating pipe or fitting.
Yes. Although tapered threads provide sealing, PTFE tape or suitable thread sealant is recommended for a reliable, service-compatible seal.
Generally, yes, if threads remain undamaged. Replace the flange if there is galling, thread damage, or excessive repeated reuse.
Threaded connections can loosen or leak under high pressure, vibration, and thermal cycling. Welded flanges provide a more reliable continuous load path.
Yes. Insufficient engagement can compromise sealing and strength. Verify engagement during installation against the applicable piping code and project requirements.
