Titanium Grade 2 is the most widely used commercially pure titanium grade, containing a minimum of 99.2% titanium. It offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, outstanding corrosion resistance in oxidising and mildly reducing environments, and superior weldability, making it the preferred choice for fabricated piping systems where alloyed grades such as Grade 5 would be over-specified. Also known as Timetal 50A and Allvac 40, it is available in seamless and welded pipe forms across a broad size range. Grade 2 titanium offers moderate strength with a typical yield strength of 352 MPa, excellent ductility, formability, and weldability. Its density is 4.51 g/cc, making it lighter than steel by nearly 60%. It is commonly used in various industries for its strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance.
Titanium Grade 2, or commercially pure titanium (CPTi), is a highly pure metal composed of 99.2% titanium. It contains minor elements like 0.25% iron, 0.03% carbon, 0.08% oxygen, and 0.015% nitrogen, providing good strength, corrosion resistance, and weldability.
Titanium Grade 2 Seamless Pipes are produced according to the ASTM B861 standard with the UNS designation R50400. These pipes conform to ANSI B36.19M and ANSI B36.10 standards and are designed to withstand high mechanical stress, pressure, elevated temperatures, and corrosive environments.
