Corten is a family of high strength, low alloy weathering steel alloys developed primarily for outdoor structural applications. The name derives from its two defining characteristics: CORrosion resistance and tensile TENstrength. When exposed to atmospheric conditions, corten steel plate develops a stable, adherent oxide layer (patina) on the surface, effectively acting as a self healing barrier that prevents further corrosion without the need for painting or additional surface treatment.
Corten Steel Plates are widely used in railroad wagons, shipping containers, bridges, architectural cladding, and landscaping structures due to their distinctive rust like aesthetic and exceptional durability.
The Indian Railway standard for corten plate is IRSM 41-97. As authorised corten steel plate suppliers, Solitaire Overseas offers full documentation and MTC for all material.

Product Analysis / MTC |
Corten Steel Plate is a high-strength low-alloy weathering steel that forms a stable, self-protective rust-like patina when exposed to atmospheric conditions. This patina prevents further corrosion and eliminates the need for painting, making it ideal for outdoor structural, architectural, and design applications.
Solitaire Overseas supplies Corten A, Corten B, ASTM A588 Grade A/B/C, ASTM A242 Type 1, S355J2W, S355J0W, S355J0WP, S355J2WP, and IRSM 41-97 weathering steel plate grades.
The price of corten plate varies depending on thickness, grade, quantity, and delivery destination. Thin plates (1–3 mm) are approximately USD 1.18/kg, while thicker plates (4 mm+) are around USD 0.93/kg. Contact us for an updated quotation.
Corten steel plates are available in thickness from 2–460 mm, width 900–3200 mm, and length 1000–12000 mm. Standard sheet sizes include 2500×1250 mm and 3000×1500 mm. Custom cut-to-size options are available.
Corten Steel Plates typically last 30 to 50 years or more under normal atmospheric conditions. The protective patina layer formed over time eliminates the need for painting and reduces maintenance requirements.
Corten steel sheet cladding involves covering building exteriors with weathering steel panels. It offers superior corrosion resistance, low maintenance, a distinctive rustic appearance, and long-term durability for architectural applications.
Solitaire Overseas exports Corten Steel Plates to 90+ countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Singapore, UK, Germany, USA, Australia, South Africa and more. Get in touch for competitive pricing, fast delivery, and complete documentation.
