SA210 Gr A1 seamless carbon steel tubes are manufactured to ASTM A210 / ASME SA210 for high-pressure, high-temperature boiler and superheater service. The grade is defined by a medium-carbon composition 0.27% C max, 0.93% Mn max, 0.10% Si min which delivers a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa and maximum hardness of 79 HRB, meeting the structural demands of continuous boiler duty. Solitaire Overseas supplies IBR-certified SA210 Gr A1 tubes ex-Mumbai, with full mill test certificates and same-day quotation on standard sizes.
A210 Grade A1 tubes from Solitaire Overseas are produced as seamless components, ensuring exceptional strength and the ability to withstand high pressures up to 160 bar. These tubes are also designed for use in extreme temperatures up to 550°C, making them an ideal choice forsuperheater and boiler applications where reliability is critical.
SA210 Gr A1 tubes provide reliable service across boiler, superheater, andheat exchanger circuits because of their defined mechanical limits: 415 MPa minimum tensile strength, maximum 79 HRB hardness, and IBR-compliant seamless construction making them suitable for continuous high-pressure operation without weld-related failure points.

SA210 Gr A1 is readily weldable by all conventional processes. Preheat is not normally required. Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) is not mandatory for SA210 Gr A1 under most ASME codes due to its lower carbon content (0.27% max). However, project-specific requirements may apply — verify against the applicable code edition and jurisdiction.
SA210 is available in two principal grades Gr A1 and Gr C. While both are medium-carbon seamless boiler steel, they differ in carbon content, strength, and the applications they are best suited for. SA210 Gr A1 seamless carbon steel tubes are engineered for high-temperature, high-pressure service environments. Their combination of medium-carbon composition, seamless construction, and IBR certification makes them the standard choice across the following industries and plant systems:
SA210 Gr A1 is a seamless medium-carbon steel specified under ASTM A210 / ASME SA210, primarily used for boiler tubes, superheater tubes, and heat exchanger tubes. It contains a maximum of 0.27% carbon, which gives it a balance of strength and weldability. The grade is designed for high-pressure and high-temperature service, with a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa and the ability to operate at sustained temperatures up to 550°C.
SA210 Gr A1 has a maximum hardness of 79 HRB (Rockwell B scale) or 143 HB (Brinell hardness). This hardness limit ensures the material retains sufficient ductility for boiler and heat exchanger applications, where the tubing must accommodate thermal cycling without cracking. The value is defined in the ASTM A210 specification and is verified during production testing.
SA210 Gr A1 and Gr C are both medium-carbon seamless boiler steel grades, but Gr C has a higher carbon content (0.35% max vs 0.27% max for A1), giving it a higher tensile strength (485 MPa vs 415 MPa minimum) and higher hardness (89 HRB max vs 79 HRB max). Gr A1 is easier to weld without preheat and is the standard choice for most boiler, economiser, and heat exchanger applications. Gr C is specified for higher-pressure superheaters and critical pressure parts where the additional strength is required.
SA210 Gr A1 is a medium-carbon steel with a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa, making it suitable for high-pressure boiler and superheater applications. SA179 is a low-carbon steel (0.06–0.18% C) primarily used in heat exchanger and condenser tubes where thinner walls and tighter dimensional tolerances are required. SA210 A1 has a significantly higher maximum pressure rating and temperature capability than SA179.
Yes. SA210 Gr A1 tubes supplied by Solitaire Overseas are certified to IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) requirements. We provide IBR Form certificates along with mill test certificates (MTC) for each batch. IBR certification is a mandatory requirement for any boiler or pressure vessel component operating under the Indian Boiler Act. Please contact us to confirm IBR documentation availability for your specific requirement.
The weight per metre of SA210 Gr A1 tubes depends on the outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness. The standard formula is: W (kg/m) = 0.02466 × (OD − WT) × WT, where OD and WT are in millimetres. For example, a 60.3 mm OD × 3.91 mm WT (SCH 40) tube weighs approximately 5.44 kg/m. Refer to the weight chart table on this page for the most commonly ordered sizes.
Yes. Solitaire Overseas supplies SA210 Gr A1 tubes in finned tube and U-bend tube configurations in addition to standard straight lengths. Finned tubes with helical or longitudinal fins on the OD are used in air-cooled heat exchangers, economisers, and air preheater units to increase heat transfer surface area. U-bend tubes are supplied for shell-and-tube heat exchanger assemblies. Contact us with your bend radius, fin specification, and quantity for a customised quotation.
SA210 Gr A1 tubes from Solitaire Overseas are available with the following surface treatments as per buyer requirement: bare / mill finish (standard), oil-coated (for corrosion protection during transit and storage), paint-coated (anti-rust primer), hot-dip galvanized (for corrosive environments), and annealed or normalised (heat-treated for controlled mechanical properties). Please specify the required surface treatment at the time of enquiry.
The price of SA210 Gr A1 tubes depends on the outside diameter, wall thickness, length, quantity, surface treatment, and current carbon steel market rates. As of current market conditions, prices in India typically range from ₹80 to ₹140 per kg for standard sizes in stock — subject to market conditions at date of enquiry. Export prices are quoted in USD or EUR FOB Mumbai. For a firm quotation with delivery timelines, please submit your specification using the enquiry form on this page or email us at vishal@solitaire-overseas.com.
Standard sizes of SA210 Gr A1 tubes are maintained in stock at our Mumbai warehouse and can typically be dispatched within 3–7 working days of order confirmation, subject to quantity. For custom sizes, cut-to-length requirements, or IBR-stamped lots, lead time is typically 2–4 weeks. Export shipments are dispatched FOB Mumbai with all documentation including MTC, packing list, and IBR certificates. Contact us with your quantity and destination for a firm delivery commitment.
Each batch of SA210 Gr A1 tubes from Solitaire Overseas undergoes the following quality checks before dispatch: (1) Chemical composition analysis (spectrometer / heat certificate verification); (2) Mechanical property testing — tensile, yield, and elongation; (3) Hardness testing (HRB / HB); (4) Hydrostatic testing at a minimum of 1,000 psi for OD up to 101.6 mm; (5) Dimensional inspection — OD, wall thickness, length, and straightness; (6) Visual and surface inspection; (7) Eddy Current Testing (ECT) per ASTM E426 and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) per ASTM A210 Supplementary Requirement S4 available on request.
